Kristel:

In today's episode of two minutes and motivation, we are going to be talking about getting comfortable with saying “no”

I started to talk a little bit about this with Alexandra Carter. In this week's episode, Alex is negotiation expert and she gave a lot of great tips on building confidence and asking for more.

So if you haven't checked out that episode, I highly recommend you do, but that inspired me to spend a little bit of time today on this topic. Of being confident and comfortable with saying no, what can sometimes happen is you can fall into the trap of trying to please others instead of really doing what best serves you.

And I used to be in that situation where I fell into that trap of being a people pleaser. And I would say yes to things when I really wanted to say no.

Here's the thing, if you are saying yes to others, when you really want to say no, you're doing yourself and others a disservice, you are then giving away your time and giving away your energy to things that don't really excite you, that don't resonate with you.

And what that does. It takes away that your time and energy for things that truly matter to you and other people can tell as well. So from here on out, if you want to say no to something, I encourage you to listen to that nudge and to give yourself permission to say no. What that does, It makes more space, more time to say yes to things that truly matter.

When you do this, you’re going to be living a more authentic life, you’re going to be living a more fulfilling life. And it does take practice.

I recently had a call with someone who was pitching me for our service and in the past, I would have just said, sure, send me some information because I would have felt uncomfortable saying no, but recently with some of the different things that I've been working on, I knew that it was really important for me to say no, thank you if it didn't resonate.

So when he said, can I send you some more information? I said, no, thank you. I felt really good about this. It was something super simple, but it boosted my confidence in my ability to set healthy boundaries.

So I challenge you today to tune into yourself. And if there's a situation where you really want to say no, but you're a little uncomfortable, stand in your power, set those healthy boundaries and say, no, thank you.

I hope that this helps you. And until next time, this is Kristel Bauer. With Live greatly inspiring you to awaken your ultimate potential.
