In today's episode of two minutes of motivation, I'm going to be sharing with you some ways to develop a healthy relationship with your body. I had a really great conversation this week with Rebecca Asfour, and we talked about body image and fitness and a lot of really valuable tips. So if you haven't had a chance to check that out, I highly recommend that you do.
So that conversation inspired me to share a couple things that really can help you shift your perspective about your body. The first thing is to start paying attention to all of the things that you really appreciate about yourself and your body. It's a natural tendency to notice things that you don't like.
And if that's you, you're not alone. It's looking at the flaws instead of all of the wonderful things that your body does for you. So really make an effort every day to start to notice the things that you appreciate about your body. What does it do for you that really makes you feel good? It allows you to walk, to play with your kids, to exercise and to do all these different things.
So really start to notice the positives and really give your body credit for all that it does for you. The second thing is to set goals based on function versus appearance. So for example, if you're wanting to start working out, instead of thinking, okay, I want to start working out to lose five pounds.
Switch that to, I want to start working out because I really want to, for example, have more energy. I want to make sure that I'm as healthy as I can be so I can enjoy all of the things that I really want to do in this life and to be more present and energized, to be with my family. So think about it in the way of function.
What goals do you have for yourself in your body that you can set? Feel better and more energized and more empowered versus the goals that sometimes we set as far as up here. So those two things can really help you develop a healthier relationship with your body. Again, number one, practice gratitude and appreciate what your body does for you. Your body is amazing.
And the second thing is set goals based on function and the goals that you have that are more empowering and uplifting versus appearance. I hope that this helps. And until next time, this is Kristel Bauer with Live Greatly inspiring you to awaken your ultimate potential.
