Sponsor (NSF)

I'm excited to share more of this conversation with you, but first, a quick word about our sponsor. This podcast episode is brought to you in collaboration with the national sleep foundation.

It's time to be your best slept self. The national sleep foundation advances, sleep health and wellbeing through education and advocacy. They've been studying and reporting on sleep for over 30 years. Sleep awareness week in 2022 is March 13th through the 19th and every year, NSF takes this time to reemphasize the important connection between your sleep and your health.

This year, they are helping you become your best slept self. Today many Americans are not getting the sleep that they need to live their healthiest lives, the national sleep foundation's annual sleep in America poll indicates that good sleep is within everyone's reach. The 2022 poll show sleep is a process that starts long before bedtime and is influenced by key daytime activities, including light exposure, meal regularity, stress and physical activity.

In today's episode of two minutes of motivation, I'm going to be sharing five ways to quickly destress.. I chatted this week with Dr. Erin Koffel from the national sleep foundation who is the sponsor of this podcast episode.

And we talked about how stress can impact our sleep and so many other things. So I wanted to share five ways that you can quickly de stress.

The first thing you can do is get a change of scenery. So if you're inside working on something and you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed, try and get outside, look at something differently. Leave the room get a change of scenery. And a lot of times that can lead to a new perspective.

The second thing is to do a quick body scan. If your feeling stress, scan your body, relax your muscles. And you'll notice a lot of times when you're stressed, you probably clench your muscles. I know that's something I do.So just taking a quick moment to do a body scan can be a great way to de stress.

The third thing is to focus on the solution instead of the problem. A lot of times, if you're getting stuck in a stressful moment, you're thinking about everything going wrong, instead of focusing on, what you can do to resolve the situation.

The fourth thing is to take a moment and a break to have a healthy snack, perhaps get a cup of green tea and just take a mindful moment to relax.

And the fifth thing is to move your body. So movement is a great way to reduce stress. Go for a walk, get a quick workout in just something to take your mind off of the stressful event.

So again, these five things are number one, change of scenery. Two, body scan. Three, focus on the solution. Four, have a healthy snack, perhaps a cup of tea and Number five, move your body.

I hope this helps. And until next time, this is Kristel Bauer with Live Greatly inspiring you to awaken your ultimate potential.
