In today's episode of two minutes and motivation, I'm going to be sharing with you three key components to living a long, healthy, vibrant life. I chatted with Dan Buettner this week, who is an incredible individual who went around the world, looking for places where people lived the longest and healthiest lives.
He found five places ultimately called Blue Zones. And that conversation got me thinking about this topic, and I want to dive a little deeper into this.
So the first component is food. The reason this is my number one is because you have control over what you eat and you also are likely eating three plus meals a day.
So there are so many opportunities for you to make choices that will nourish your body and help you live a long, vibrant, healthy life. Now, I don't care what you've done in the past when it comes to food. But today right here, right now, you have a new opportunity to make choices that will nourish your mind and your body.
So what should you do when it come to food. I really love adding in more plant-based foods. That's what Dan was talking about as well. That's what he found people that were living really long, healthy lives were eating a lot of plants. Plant-based diets. So to add in more fruits, more vegetables, more nuts, more legumes, and see how that can increase your energy and vitality.
The second key component is spending time and energy nourishing your relationships. So paying attention to, How much effort you're putting into your relationships. How often are you getting together with friends? How often are you reaching out to family and friends? Are you feeling connected? Are you feeling connected in your community?
So making an effort to prioritize your relationships with your neighbors, with your community, with your friends and family and going out of your way to create potentially rituals or things throughout the week where you're able to gather and have that sense of connection.
Now the third component is making sure that you have a strong purpose in your life and that you're connected to something greater than yourself, that you feel like you understand and know your personal mission.
Now, this is going to be very, very unique to you, but spending time really getting clear on this, what is your personal mission and your purpose, and making sure that you integrate this into your day to day activities.
So again, the three things are. Food, adding in more plants, trying to follow a plant-based diet.
Number two, paying attention to your relationships and really trying to increase that sense of connection.
And then number three, having a personal mission and living with purpose.
